PRESIDENT’S CORNER

Can you believe September is here already?  According to the calendar autumn begins September 23.  In some parts of the country that means cooler days and nights, jackets, long pants, closed in shoes and maybe the furnace for some.  For us it means temperatures under 100, more air conditioning, short sleeves instead of sleeveless, sandals (just a continuation of summer).  However, the fabric stores promote fall colors, Halloween and Thanksgiving patterns.  They display beautiful quilts in fall colors.  Do you have a quilt in autumn colors that you display?  If you have a special quilt for fall, bring it for show and tell so some of us can be inspired.

Happy quilting,

Shirley Lewis

MINUTES

  • Quilter’s Guild of Grand Prairie Minutes for August 5, 2019 Meeting
  • The meeting was called to order at 7:05 p.m. by President Shirley Lewis. Our quote for July: Fabricitis: A reaction to the hypnotic pheromones given off by fabrics and home textiles. Very common among women, but rarely affecting men; the condition causes the sufferer to purchase copious amounts of fabric and textiles without purpose or need and to then stash said fabrics in a highly protective and secretive manner. Prognosis: No known cure.
  • There were no corrections to the minutes as printed in the newsletter, and the minutes were filed as printed.
  • The Treasurer’s report printed in the newsletter was filed for audit with no corrections. There is no change to the report at this time.
