Good morning quilters,

Dorothy Smith send me the link so I was able to look at the newsletter and the pictures. Some of you did not age at the last 8 years. LOL.
I recognized some faces and it was just wonderful to see you all and your work.

We love living here at the beaches. My health has improved 98 %.
I am a member of the North East Florida quilters guild. We make a lot of quilts for donation and meet every Friday to work on something of your own or have a class. I make mostly smaller quilts and am now doing more artistic quilts & my favorite scrap quilts.
The Jacksonville quilt show was outstanding this year I have never been so impressed than this year.

Happy Holidays to all and happy quilting,

Hello from The Women's Museum! Your blog is absolutely fantastic, and I wanted to invite the Quilter's Guild of Grand Prairie to our exhibit opening this Thursday!

On Thursday, November 6th, join The Women’s Museum: An Institute for the Future from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. for the opening reception for the exhibit Partisan Pieces: Quilts of Political and Patriotic Persuasion. This free event will include wine and appetizers as well as a complimentary valet. Dr. Marian Ann J. Montgomery, Project Coordinating Curator, Quilt Mania II, will speak on the significance of the featured 19th and 20th century quilts.
To RSVP, email rsvp@thewomensmuseum.org or call (214) 915-0876.

If you can't make it on Thursday, please stop by and see the exhibit at your convenience. It will be on display at The Women's Museum until March 2009.

Exhibit information: Curated by the International Quilt Study Center and Museum, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the exhibit features 15 quilts illustrating 19th and 20th century political life from the perspective, and from the needles, of well informed and patriotic American women. In the days before women’s suffrage, these quilts served as women’s voices.

greetings from Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. I stumbled upon your site through the "Golden Thimble" free pattern links. I very much enjoyed reading your newsletter and looking at you photos. I am absolutely in love with the the purple quilt in the bottom photo. I cannot for the life of me figure out where the actual block is. That is a sign of a great quilt. Please tell the maker of this quilt how much I admire her/his??? work.

I belong to our guild here in Grande Prairie. We are called the Northern Piecemakers Quilt Guild. Our first meeting is on the 8th. Normally the first Monday of the month but because of Labour Day we changed it. Last year we had a membership of approx. 60 members.

I believe that Grande Prairie, Alberta and Grand Prairie, Texas were or are sister cities. (not sure of the status of this right now) It is so great to see that we also share the love of quilting...not just our city's name!

big Albertan hugs to all of your members,

Debbie

Great news letter. I am very happy to have been at your meeting and look forward to many many more. Thanks for the hospitality.

Also, thanks for the in put of the fabric. I will bring what I can, but I have many bolts and it is difficult to haul around.

I have lots of other fabric also.

See you in September

Since the first Monday is Labor Day are you still having the meeting on that day or have you moved it or cancelled it? Please let me know so I can attend.

July is a little different at the guild,
we have a birthday party, and playing Quilt-o (kind of like bingo) for quilting prizes. (Fat quarters etc...) everyone brings something to throw in the prize stack. Check out the newsletter it has the details

We will be back in the normal routine at the August meeting.

We are not a very large group, but have lots of good information exchanges, and projects to work. I joined just a year ago myself.

Guests are always welcome!

We would love to have you come join us.

I have recently moved to Grand Prairie, and am interested in becoming involved in a local quilter's guild. I have been in a guild in Louisiana for about 15 years, and miss the fellowship with other quilters. I don't know my way around very well yet, but would love to visit your group. I would love to have a personal contact. Thanks.
